At LYNCH & FIERRO LLP, we work diligently on our clients’ behalf, with a strong commitment to our core values of integrity, professionalism, enthusiasm and success. We help our clients achieve their goals by developing and advancing legal and public policy arguments that influence legislators, regulators, bureaucrats and judges. Depending on the needs of our clients, we may encourage the Legislature or the Administration to promote new initiatives or oppose threatened action, or persuade the Legislature or a state agency to amend or re-interpret a regulation. Working with Democrats and Republicans, we get things done on Beacon Hill. We are proud of the work we do and the clients we represent, believing the public is best served when our government officials make informed decisions.
To have influence on Beacon Hill, you have to understand the written rules and procedures of the Legislature. Equally as important, you have to know the culture at the State House and the people who work there. With our decades of experience, we can help a client achieve success because we understand the process and know the personalities, backgrounds and thinking of key decision-makers. We know what works and what doesn’t.
We believe in a pro-active approach to government relations that begins with establishing a relationship of trust and confidence between the client and key legislators and other public officials–what we call “constructive engagement.” Effective, persuasive arguments buttressed by facts must be communicated by respected, articulate advocates, and then combined with a comprehensive legislative strategy, superior political acumen and, in appropriate situations, grass-roots lobbying. We also have extensive contacts with trade and professional associations, advocacy groups and non-profit organizations for situations where an alliance or coalition best serves our client’s needs.
As lawyers as well as lobbyists, we strongly believe that advocacy on behalf of a client must be ethical. We scrupulously adhere to both the letter and spirit of the lobbying, conflict of interest, campaign finance, and other relevant laws, to best protect our own and our clients’ reputations.
